On an unusually cool, pleasant 4th of July for Yorktown, Virginia, the Fifes and Drums of York Town were seen throughout the town for this year's Independence Day celebrations. After a traditional performance in front of the Thomas Nelson House, several Senior Corps members played the National Anthem for "The Sounds of Liberty" ceremony with the customary Bell Ringing as the name of each signer of the Declaration of Independence was called. The Corps next performed their crowd-pleasing field show at the Yorktown Monument. Thanks to a large contingent of recruits, this year's show was even more amazing with a multitude of flags blowing in the breeze and the beautiful York River as a backdrop. Later in the evening, the Corps played to a still larger crowd on the street in front of the Monument as they opened for a concert by the USAF Heritage Band of America.
