Independence Day
July 4, 2010

The Fifes and Drums of York Town enthusiastically donned their wool regimentals for another hot and humid 4th of July Celebration in Yorktown, Virginia. Anticipation was high as the Corps was about to debut their new 2010 Field Show for the hometown audience. This year's show was orchestrated to give all spectators, regardless of viewing position, a special look at the corps. Considering the reaction from the crowd, the show was a winner. Following the 2010 Field Show next to the Yorktown Victory Monument, the Corps performed in front of the historic Thomas Nelson House. Afterwards, the Senior Corps members remained to play the National Anthem for "The Sounds of Liberty" ceremony with the customary Bell Ringing as the name of each signer of the Declaration of Independence was called. The Corps then marched in the patriotic Yorktown Independence Day Parade which was back by popular demand. Later in the evening, the Corps once again opened for the USAF Heritage Band of America. It was truly an amazing day!
