On May 31, a large contingent of the Fifes and Drums of York Town travelled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Memorial Day Parade. The parade consisted of marching bands, active duty and retired military units, youth groups, and parade floats, as well as hundreds of veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. This was a long parade, 2 1/2 miles, and was viewed by approximately 300,000 people. Our Corps looked and performed superbly while braving 90+ degree temperatures. Their professionalism and dedication were clearly on display as they brought fame and honor to Yorktown at this momentous event. Clearly a day to remember for our Corps!
