National Memorial Day Parade
May 30, 2016

The Fifes and Drums of York Town had the honor of participating in the 2016 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D. C. We arrived early enough to allow Corps members to visit the museums before the parade. Some members went to the National Museum of American History while others visited the Air and Space Museum. The weather was perfect and the crowds large and appreciative. The parade is arranged as a moving timeline of American military history honoring veterans from the American Revolution through present day, placing us early in the parade. This year we led George Washington along Constitution Avenue in his horse drawn carriage. Our newer members will especially remember turning the corner from 7th Street onto Constitution Avenue and seeing thousands of spectators cheering them on!
