Mount Vernon
July 2, 2016

The Fifes and Drums of York Town helped "General and Mrs. Washington" celebrate Independence Day with several performances on the front lawn of George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate. Both the Corps and the crowds were charmed when the General came to pose for pictures with the Corps and when Lady Washington invited them to the steps of their home for more photographs. She spoke at length about the role of the Fife and Drum Corps during the Revolutionary War and especially remembered the tune "The World Turned Upsdie Down". To her delight, our Corps obligingly played it for her.
