National Portrait Gallery
February 14, 2009

The Fifes and Drums of York Town returned as invited guests to the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. as part of the President's Day celebrations. The Corps began by splitting into two groups to perform in the two main lobbies of the Gallery. They later joined together to perform in the magnificent Kogod Courtyard Atrium. In addition to the many visiting families, the audience even included George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other past presidents, courtesy of Madame Tussauds Waxworks and mascots from the Washington Nationals. Between performances, Corps members enjoyed touring the many galleries. A special edible display of hundreds of cupcakes celebrating Presidents Obama and Lincoln caught the attention of all!
